Goran Visnjic (Sibenik, on 9 September 1972) is a Croatian actor who appears in many American films and series. His most notable role is that of Dr. Luka Kovac in the hit television series ER. Thanks to this role, he was twice nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Visnjic has shown a tendency toward acting since an early age. His first role was in 1988 in the film Braca Po Materi. Following his dream, in 1990 Visnjic enrolled at the Academy of Dramatic Arts. Goran's popularity in Croatia started rising during 1993 for his role of Shakespeare's Hamlet when the actor was performing throughout Croatia. Since then his career started to rise.
In 1999 he is casted for the role of Dr. Luka Kovac in the popular TV series Emergency Room (ER).
Today Goran is married to Eva Visnjic, a daughter of the famous Croatian director Antun Vrdoljak. Goran and Eva Visnjic live in Los Angeles together with their three children.
Goran Visnjic has devoured science-fiction for as long as he can remember. Best known for playing Dr. Luka Kovac on ER Visnjic counts himself a huge fan of Isaac Asimov and Peter F. Hamilton, and also feels compelled to “watch everything that comes out in the genre.” So when the opportunity arose to star alongside Halle Berry in Steven Spielberg-produced Extant, he couldn’t resist. “Reading the script, it’s really interesting, and then you have the people involved like Steven Spielberg and Halle Berry, it makes it pretty much a no-brainer decision,” he said in an interview.
